Carr Mansion awarded 2024 MICHELIN Key

Carr Mansion

Carr Mansion, a restored 19th-century Greek Revival mansion-turned-boutique hotel in Galveston, TX, has been awarded a 2024 MICHELIN Key.

Built in 1866, Carr Mansion is one of the last remaining landmarks of Galveston Island’s initial building boom. The land was originally purchased from merchant, banker and Galveston real estate owner E. B. Nichols. The mansion was constructed by Lewis W. Carr and later sold to Texas Governor Richard Coke. In 2018, the house was renamed as Carr Mansion in honor of its heritage.

Featuring eight rooms, the hotel offers a complimentary cocktail upon check-in and daily breakfast service. It also hosts wedding receptions and corporate events.

The MICHELIN Keys represent hotels offering outstanding architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, personality and character, value for the price and significant contribution to the guest experience. According to MICHELIN, one key indicates “a true gem” of a stay providing excellent service and unique character.

“We are incredibly honored to be awarded a MICHELIN Key,” said Joellyn Moynahan, proprietor, Carr Mansion. “This recognition is a testament to the passion and dedication we’ve poured into preserving the history and unique charm of Carr Mansion while offering our guests an exceptional experience. It’s truly rewarding to see our vision celebrated on such a prestigious platform, and we’re proud to be part of this distinguished list of hotels.”
